Electric motor: We always use Somfy tubular motors. Why? They carry a 5 year manufacturer's warranty! and in our opinion are the most reliable and robust motors that money can buy. A 240 volt power supply is required from our customers either via a 13 amp plug or spur. 3 phase motors for more heavy duty shutters are another option available from South Coast Shutters. For light weight shutters, and a cheaper option, we are able to offer 'spring and lock' and 'pull cord' type operation.
Curtain/Lathe: Depending on the requirements and needs of our customers we have a wide selection of types of curtains/lathes. The most popular being the tried and tested original single skinned scrolled steel slat, available in solid slat form or perforated slat form. Other options include double walled aluminium slats, double walled aluminium slats with foam filling as well as single skin extruded aluminium punched slats allowing 58.5% vision.
Guide rails: The type of guide rail will be governed by the roller shutter required. In all cases the guide rail will be in a U shaped profile, manufactured from either extruded aluminium or galvanised steel. Sizes of the guide rails vary from 53mm x 22mm x 53mm to 90mm x 40mm x 90mm, again, depending on the roller shutter type used.
Housing/box: Die cast aluminium end plates with a two piece roll formed aluminium casing. Depending on the type of shutter specified, as well as the shutter height, the housing/box size will measure from 165mm up to 400mm.
Types of operation: Externally we will fit a surface mounted tamper proof key switch. Internally we will fit either a tamper proof key switch or a simple up/down switch. Another, but a more expensive option is control via remote control, with hand held transmitters. For added peace of mind, we also offer manual override facility in the event of power failures.
